About me

Hi! My name is Divolga, and I am an artist. I paint using nature’s gifts that I harvest myself. I am from Latvia, a country rich in ancient traditions, folklore and symbolism rooted in pagan culture. It is also a place where handcraft and folk medicine remain deeply present in everyday life.

Every leaf, every blade of grass has its own purpose, and this is where my creative process begins. The images I find in nature inspire the stories behind my paintings: I try to capture a moment of communion between nature and people, preserving materials from every season by using them in my art.

Nature is not governed by people, but people can benefit from it by learning to appreciate its gifts over time, becoming part of its cycle through curiosity, research and creativity.

My creative steps

  1. First, I look for materials with interesting shapes and textures.
  2. Then, I study their properties: biology, adaptability, strength, durability and structure.
  3. Finally, I study their cultural dimension: symbolism, history, legends and traditional applications.

The idea for each image grows out of this process. Nature gives my characters their uniqueness and emotional depth.

I aim to show the value of everything that exists around us, highlight the importance of staying connected with nature, develop curiosity, encourage collaboration, and emphasise problem solving, logic and the sequence of actions. Through my work I also speak about waste awareness, creative potential and respect for the natural world.

My key concepts: recycling, learning, culture, biology, history, aesthetics, empathy, philanthropy, materials science, evolution, research, meaning, imagination, exercise, art therapy, mental health, waste awareness, respect for the environment and eco-sustainability.
